Like many great American tales, ours begins with a hamburger. The all-natural, Black Angus CEO Burger. A fan favorite. Pride and joy of The Office, a gourmet gastropub nestled in the heart of downtown Delray Beach. Sunshine State, USA. And, the inspiration for BURGERFI, launched from dissatisfaction with what was happening in the burger market at the time. Fast food and their lackluster offerings can have profound effects, so a better burger was born: February, 2011.

You see, we don’t adhere to the practices of industrialized fast food giants. We were started in a gourmet kitchen, by gourmet Chefs. They didn’t know from fast food, so the back of the house looks less like a burger joint, more like a five-star restaurant. When we needed a sauce, our Chefs didn’t call a food supplier. They started chopping. Combining. Cooking.

Making better choices. Trying some better.

BURGERFI Sauce, for example, uses over a dozen fresh ingredients. Far from fast, it takes roughly 40 minutes to prepare. Those doing it use words like “artful pride” when speaking of the hard work it takes to make it. That’s just one sauce. You can find this level of better in everything we do.

When we build, we try to build better communities, too. We support local charities and community centers that focus on the making the lives of underprivileged children better. We encourage recycling and upcycling in the hopes that others follow suit. As we rapidly grow, we promote from within and offer a range of career opportunities. And, then there’s the whole “giving you real food” thing, which should be a given, but so often isn’t.

Our beef is beef. Odd to say these days, but necessary. It’s hormone free. Antibiotic free. Free of the junk that shouldn’t be there in the first place. And it’s sourced from the best ranches in the world. Their beliefs and natural practices in line with ours. Cattle roam free. Breathe mountain air. Eat grass and are treated humanely. We never waver from this high standard. This doesn’t come easy. Certainly not cheap. Truth is there are simpler ways to put burgers on a bun. But, they’re not better.

We’re always trying to lessen the footprint we leave on the earth. Each location is built according to environmentally sustainable best practices and includes earth-friendly elements. Chairs made from upcycled Coca-Cola bottles and tables made from upcycled milk jugs. And, wooden tables from upcycled wood pallets. Even ceiling fans use less energy. Stringent recycling programs for oil, cardboard, bottles and cans are in place, too. Here, being kind to Mother Earth is not a fad.
